Chelsea tried to sign Inter star

Chelsea have been trying to sign key Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella on the final day of the transfer window. However, the Italian club refused.

According to insider Nicolo Schira, Barella was an alternative for Chelsea to Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, the negotiations on which were unsuccessful. Inter considers Barella untouchable.

This season Barella has 6 goals and 7 assists in 26 matches for Inter in all competitions. The transfer cost of the 25-year-old Italian is estimated at 70 million euros, the contract runs until the summer of 2026.
