Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (WTA 508) recognized her opponent in the 1/8 finals of the clay tournament of the WTA 250 series in Strasbourg (France).
In the 2nd round of the competition, the Ukrainian will play with the representative of New Zealand Erin Rutliff (WTA 858).
Erin started with the qualification of the tournament, where she lost to Angelina Gabueva in the final. However, she made it to the main draw of the tournament after several withdrawals and beat Xie Shuwei at the start.
Note that initially Svitolina was supposed to play against the winner of the match Katie Volynets (No. 102 WTA) – Elise Mertens (No. 26 WTA). However, both tennis players refused to compete in Strasbourg and Xie Shuwei and Rutliff took their place.
Svitolina and Rutliff will play for the first time. The match is scheduled for May 23 at 11:00 Kyiv time.
In the 1/16 finals, Elina won in two sets against Louise Chirico.
