Maldini names his toughest opponents
Former Milan and Italy defender Paolo Maldini singled out the players with whom he had the most difficulty in confrontation on the field.
“Maradona and Ronaldo are the strongest. Thank God I didn’t play against Messi. Cristiano Ronaldo is a great scorer, but his game is less magical than those two.
I was fast and physically strong, but they were even faster. Besides, Diego was a nice guy. When he was included in the Hall of Fame, I felt ashamed that I beat him so often, and I apologized to him, ”admitted Maldini.
The now 54-year-old Maldini, as a player, defended the colors of Milan from 1985 to 2009. In August 2018, Paolo Maldini became the development director of the Milan club, and a year later he received the position of technical director.
